Has anyone else had experience of this.
My horse had come out in hives which initially we thought was insect related.
The vet diagnosed a food allergy which he thought was due to Alfa A.

We elimimated everything except the easibeet on the vets recommendation and the rash came back. Stopped the Easibeet and it went away so it looks like we have the culprit.

Talking to someone else on the yard they had the same experience.
Neither of us have tried another form of sugarbeet so we don't know if it is easibeet specifically. or just sugarbeet
One thing we both noticed is that when you first soak it what looks like grain husks float to the surface which you would not expect.

Any thoughts??

havent heard of easibeet causing problems (my friend uses it in the winter), i think its more fibrous than normal sugabeet, but not sure ....

He likes to keep me on my toes
He's fine and it didn't actually bother him in the slightest, he just looked a bit lumpy.
Just want to know exactly what it is to avoid in future.

Funnily enough, my horse got an eye infection recently and vet said keep her in and put her on bute. To mask the bute I fed her speedibeet, and she has come out in massive fly bites.

We usually feed her speedibeet in winter and never get this problem, but I wonder is it something to do with the flies and speedibeet combined???

Any ideas?

Phone the manufacturer and see if they can tell you whats in it compared to sugar beet.
Mine went into anaphalactic shock with fibre(something!). I spoke to the manufacturer to assertain what was in it compared to another of their feedstuffs he'd been on. I knew he was intollerant of grain but he's also intollerant/allergic to oatfeed (which is used in 99% of feedstuffs!)

That'll be carrots and grass nuts from here on in then!!!!

Emailed everyone who made anything I gave him.
Thumbs up to Dengie and Naf who replied back the same day with details.
Charnwood who make easibeet ( amongst others) have not got back.

tandp I was feeding to mask supplements the vet recommended so very similar. Could the fact they were both kept be a factor too. I thought they were fly bites at first but spray and rugs had no effect and the vet took one look and said food allergy. Apparently to do with the way the lumps are distributed.

Anyway the vet is coming up again tomorrow to check his foot so I'll ask then.
