-I am going to get very lost

I have been in little jumping shows at my RS but they didnt have many jumps, now i have got to remember 13 lol. its my first proper jumping class, i'm only going to do 1'6 for my first one i think. And now im worried because i got confused trying to remember 6 while practising yesterday :p

any tips for remembering the course?

Don't worry!! I have the worse memory ever! All I do is, when I get there and go and pay for the class have a good look at the course. They are all numbered and logical. Some find it easier to remember the colours.
They will let you walk it too, so just listen out then you can have a proper walk around the exact line you'll do on your horse.
If you still don't feel you've got it... try and watch the first/second rider go round!

Good luck :D

Like emma says you can walk it, so get there early so you can walk it a few times, as your class will probably be the first.
Also, try and pay as late as you can so your further down the class (or just ask to be put last - some let you do this). This way you can warm up a little then watch a few people go round, reinforcing your memory of the course, then warm up a bit and watch. By watching you will also be able to see any commonly spooky fence which you can then adjust your own riding to try and combat...plus the fence you thought is spook or difficult may prove not to be...

Main thing is to go out and have fun, regardless of what happens. Good luck for it! And let us know how you get on... x

You will not get lost!! Seriously, the course is usually set up logically so as you come off a fence it is obvious where the next one is, especially at 1'6, and remember they are numbered, so if you turn into a fence, you can always see whether you should be jumping it next or not...

walk the course several times and then repeat it. my mind usually goes blank but I remember it after the first few. Try and remember what the fences look like. so you could go ' blue. red. yellow, fish,' if you get what I mean:)

ok just got back from the show..

got in the warm up ring and she was being her usual idiot self lmao, refused to go straight and goin round the ring in a motorbike angle C shape  but was flyin over the jumps brilliantly!

after an attempt at warming up i entered in the 1'9, first round she refused the first jump and wouldnt go any nearer than 2ft away from it and i got eliminated after the second refusal at it. Tried another round in the 1'9, got past the first fence and the second fence, went to the double and cleared the first one, refused the second part! another elimination lmao.

Will try again next time.. i will post some pics up soon, but tbh im gettin so fed up of this motorbiking around corners with her head stuck to the outiside, because and she wants to do is stand in the middle it seems, and the only way to keep her out on the track is to hold her out with the outside rein... I am going to try and work on it but tbh im begginning to not want to ride it gets so tiresome and annoying to bear with when it only seems to be getting worse! even walkin around the showground she wants to fall into the right side.

ah well, lesson tomorrow with her.
