Arrived at the field this morning to my baby in a typical laminatic stance. Was gutted !!,Called the vet who arrived very quickly, gave all necessary drugs, sedated her etc. He weigh taped her checked our field incase anyone had thrown in grass clippings, she only gets a handfull of feed with vits, and she isnt on masses of grass. She,s more small horse than pony so it was so out the blue shes not overweight/overfed. Vet thinks its just been a blip and shes gorged herself on too much sweet grass, he didnt fit frog supports as hes hopeing a weeks box rest will heLP. I just dont know where i went wrong!!!:(

oh sorry to hear that. hope it's just a minor case and she recovers quickly. my old 14.3 mare had mild laminitus but with good care she was fine after a few weeks, she did keep getting slight signs over the next few years but with correct care straight away she came good again. i'm so carefull with all of my horses now because you never know - i have a 18.2+ hh heavy horse ( 6YRS) on loan at the moment and he's even had a touch of it in the past. keep my fingers crossed for you.

Sorry to hear that!

Don't beat yourself up cos even though we associate laminitis with small fat natives it can happen to any horse and for any number of reasons.

You'll just have to extra vigilant now, and discuss a management plan with your vet as to how you can help prevent it from reoccurring! Plus you can always get advice from all us NR folk!
