Vitamin C for allergies?

I read in an old horse and hound magazine that vitamin c can help horses with allergies and copd etc.
Anyone heard this?
I also found that rosehips are a good form of vitamin c anyone ever fed these?

All i know is that rosehips are a natural source of biotin. So i pick as many as i can when i see them:D

Vit.c is an antoioxidant, so in theory it acts as a mopping up agent of any unwanted toxins in the body, not sure whether they serve to mop up the alergens in the airways that cause copd though:confused:
