a friend at our yard uses Synequin for her horse and i was looking at the ingredients on the back and doesnt look much different to other products on the market which are half the price,
does anyone know whats makes Synequin sooooooo expensive?
has anyone who used Synequin moved onto other products? if so which ones.

I was thinking about using Synequin for my lad when he was initially diagnosed with Ringbone, but the cost was too prohibitive.
I now have him on Pernamax which is made from the shells of green lipped mussels. Its not particularly cheap, although cheaper than Synequin (about thirty quid a month) but it has worked fantastically well - brought my horse completely sound when he had been chronically lame in ten days of starting him on it and he has been sound ever since - this was 18 months ago.
If you want the website address to have a look for yourself, please PM me.:)

My horse was put on Synequin by my vet, he claims it's the best joint supplement to use, but i have since swiched her onto Cosequin as my vet said it's just as good as Synequin, but is lot cheaper as it's fairly new out.

Our Joe is on Cosequin - its supposed to be good and to be honest, he's done very well off it. I thought it was the same as Synequin? (just different trade name?)

We have just started on Riaflex, which *touch wood* has made a difference in a week. It is cheaper than Synequin. I know of a couple of people that have used Cose & Syn and haven't had any results, it's something to do with the bioavailability of the compounds used. With some it works miracles and with others it doesn't do anything.
I can't really report on Riaflex properly yet as it's still early days but I was very impressed with the recomendations I got.
I haven't heard of pernamax, will go and have a read up now.
