Hope to get to know you all and learn lads as i need to learn lots lol.
I am a mum to 5 kids, and me and my 2 daughters have just started horse riding lessons, something i have wanted to do in a long long time, now the time has come, we have all had 3 lessons, and 4th is Wed, we are learning the rising trot, my RI is trying to get me to lose the neck strap and my poor horse does not know if she is coming or going.
So i hope to learn lots as 1 day when we know how to look after a horse we would love to buy one.

Hi

Welcome to NR. You will get lots of good advice from the other NR's.

Nice that you have started with your daughters. I returned to riding after 20 year break and have now been going for almost a year. I started my two girls (9 & 10) in February and I am so glad I did. We have already enjoyed a couple of beach rides in the summer down at Maidens.

They love it so much and want to go a riding holiday with me next year (not sure what OH would say about being left at home) :o

Hope your next lesson goes well. Happy trotting!!

Ohh beach rides would be fabulous, a bit expensive for the 3 of us but hey that would be fantastic, i love the sea and horse combined wow, bliss sheer bliss lol.
There is another wee lass there and she has been going for a year, do we have to keep going for a year or more is there that much to learn?
We went a walk tonight and patted some lovely horses we have in the fields here, but scared as am sure they want to bite me or head butt me lol.

Do you mean does it take more than a year to learn to ride or find out about looking after horses??

Can't speak for looking after horses - other NR's will be able to advise.

If you mean riding then I think riders continue to learn for a long time!! You may master the basics within the year. After the basics there is so much more and it's all part of the fun. ;)

Let us know how your next lesson goes. :D

I still get really excited before my lessons. I usually go to a group leson but my OH has treated me to some extra private lessons for my birthday. Now that is really exciting!!!
