Heather
Are you running any EE courses next year. Would be interested in doing a weekend course, can't get away for a week because of kids and horses. I have had your book for a while now, but I am one of those people who find hands on better than trying to sit and read a book.
You said in a note some time ago when we were talking about standards in BHS riding schools, you would welcome me to train as an EE instructor when you get your project going. I would be very interested but feel I should come along for a course with you.
Are you in Devon? Do you have a website with any information.
Regards
Deb

Hi Deb,
I wouldn't presume to speak for Heather :) , but she has said that she will be resuming the EE teacher training next year. Other than that I know that she's still doing the day course on the Equisimulator.
I had some excellent training this summer with Sue Carnell at Cheston Equestrian, near Heather's and got to use the equisimulator too. The thread should still be on here about it if you do a search. Sue is Heather's assistant and a wonderful instructor, just ask Sandra (Kerry's Partner) if you want a second opinion!!!! :D Perhaps you could pm or email Sue and/or Heather to see whether you could do a similar course and/or incorporate work with Heather?

Sandra's second opinion goes without question. Kerry's however is: "Mum, when can I go back to Devon? I'm more than ready to learn how to do other things you know even if you aren't!!!!!!? This is the story of an owner whose horse knows more than she does (and is much more skilfull) LOL!!
What we really need folks is ever ready horse accommodation just right next to Heather's. Well we can always dream can't we.
btw for anyone who might be a tad worried about their horse travelling such a distance, I found this an absolutely terrifying experience this year. Kerry, however, would say it's well worth it indeed. Our only problem (and I wasn't there to witness it but the transporter was a very honest man) was that Kerry was just a bit reluctant to load to come back home!!

Ah yes, but Sandra, the real test will be when you load Kerry to come back down here. When she jumps up the ramp, shoves herself into the cab and starts the lorry herself, you might get a better idea. :)
PS: When it comes to horses, I think all our horses know more about the subject than any of us do. If we think otherwise, then we're just fooling ourselves. Even Oliviera said he needed at least two lifetimes. :D

Oh dear - I think that means I'll need about another ten to catch up with Kerry.
I think that's good stuff btw AND I'm sure she'll JUMP up the ramp telling me it's about time too!!!!!!!!!!!! Mind you they better bring the same lorry else she might well be a bit cautious.

Heather,
When you've firmed up your EE 2003 programme, EE membership and even the magazine, will you be making the announcement on this site or on your EE site? Will you be making any provision for overseas/international members?
Cheers.

HI All,
I am sure that Mike wouldn't mind me putting info on course dates etc on the seminars bit here on the EE forum. Sue and I will be running the usual one day simulator workshops here all year- I take one and Sue takes one, students stay two nights so there is no need to rush off afterwards!
We do not do weekends though - I have other commitments teaching wise on Saturdays, and Sunday is the horses, and my yard manager's day off. The workshops take place Tuesday and Friday generally.
We get students coming from all over the world on these workshops - just had 2 from Belgium last week, have three from Bahrain coming next week, had one from Ireland the week before and one from Holland the week before that. Over the previous three months, we had three from Hong Kong, one from Saudi another from Sweden, and one from the US.
Then I get a rider who rang from Somerset, and complained that it was SUCH a long way to come for a day!!!
Just had two super ladies today- one who is an engineer who designs oil rigs for BP- she looks anything but an engineering type- slim, elegant, petite, and yet she is in charge of 48 engineers!! What a character too- she was such a joy to teach as with her engineering background, she gave such good feedback. We get all sorts here, but I feel totally spoilt as they are all such nice people, who really care about their horses, and as such it makes my job much easier as I am preaching to the converted!

Heather
Thanks for the information. Just to clarify, do you mean that it is possible to do the simulator course any Tues or Friday throughout the year?
I only ask because I know you do a lot of travelling, and go to Portugal regularly.
By the way Luis valencia's daughter is coming out to HorseShoe Point again next month, so it will wonderful to see her ride the Lusitanos again.

Hi Karen,
Counting the days when my two riding buddies and I make it to Horsehoe Point. We'll be there 3-7 Jan 2003. Will Luis Valencia's daughter be there then?
Hi Heather,
I plan to be in Manchester in late-Feb/early-Mar next year, but don't know whether I will be able to fit in your equisimulator workshop as I'll be travelling with a group. If I can, I'll e-mail you earlier and try and fix the dates. I've actually been in contact with equimix saddlery about ordering your seatsaver and having it delivered to my hotel in Manchester, and apparently, it would be no problem. BTW, do you give instruction to an absolute beginner (and mature rider) like me who doesn't even own a horse yet?
Regards.

Yes, most Tuesdays and Fridays throughout the year - Sue takes both if I am away.

I can recommend the simulator courses. Did one with my friend recently. Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and learnt a great deal. Don't go if you're on a diet though - Heather leaves you a selection of chocolate biscuits out to help yourselves, and the local pub food is also excellent! The course also leaves you with the feeling that you can't rest until you can buy one of the HM Barry Swain saddles. After sitting in one nothing else compares.
You've all been warned! :D

Heather - I did a course with you a couple of years back - but would really like a floow-up course with my OWN horse - I still find sitting trot really difficult UNLESS he is truly working - and I cant get that during a Dressage Test!.
Help!.

Hi Issy, (Hotten, presumably!?)
I will try to get together a clinic up in your neck of the woods for NR members for next sprng sometime, and get that sitting trot perfected on your own neddy!!
Anyone else interested in the Berks area?

Hey - i'm honoured!. well remembered!!!!.
Yes please.
Have you contacted Hurstbourne - nice indoor school there....
Heather

As in Catherston that was? Might be a bit big and expensive. Great for a demo, but a smaller venue is better for a clinic as it doesn't then push the cost up so much for participants.
Any ideas? Livery yards are ideal, better than riding schools as the indoor schools are usually more easily available.

They hire out the small indoor school too, as well as the large one.?
No seating etc in it, but may be OK. Or the Croft, at Padworth nr Reading - thats a 'private' indoor scchool?.

Hi every one
I am new to this forum and trying to find out where "here" is regarding Heather's workshops, schooling venues etc.
Would be interested in trying to organise time to attend.

HI vjwuk,
I mostly work from home, here in Devon doing the simulator workshops. We get riders from all over the world doing them, and it is more comvenient for me to run them here at home where we have all our own facilities.
I do take a few clinics elsewhere, but less than I would like to due to lack of time. I am constantlyu turning down clinics abroad due to this to, but have promised to some in the Staes this year, as we hope to be lanching the saddles over there later.
Email me at heather@eclipse.co.uk if you would like workshop info.

Heather,
It would be soooo great if you could slot in Southeast Asia in your very busy schedule this year. Perhaps you might like to consider going to Horseshoe Point, which is near Pattaya in Thailand, where they breed lusitanos. It's a fantastic place. I was just there last week (met up with Karenmw - Hi Karen!) and was lucky as Louis Valenca's daughter, Louisa, and her dashing matador boyfriend, Mario Miguel, were there to give lessons as well as train the lusitanos there. I didn't take a lesson with Louisa (or Bea, as they call her), as I'm still a beginner, but I watched her and Mario working with the lusitanos and they are both brilliant. The Director-Chief Instructor at Horseshoe Point is Kymn Collins, an Australian. For those of you in Europe and the States who would like to come to this side of the world for a holiday and some riding, check out the place at www.thehorseshoepoint.com.
Cheers all and a Happy New Year!
