My little section A hasnt been right for the last few weeks had routine bloods which showed a few things but nothing significant i was convinced he had cushings vet wasnt quite so sure but agreed to test which came back positive.

Vet has discussed putting him on pergolide has any body had experience with this drug? i have heard its is very expensive treatment vet was going to ring with options and prices tomorrow.

Also heard nafs cushion supplement is supposed to give good results has any body used it?

Any help on keeping a cushings pony happy would be much appreciated, had a cushings pony when i was young but didnt have severe cllinical signs so we didnt have to treat and she went to live a happy life until 30 but feel my little man might need a bit more help bless him!

Thanks

Mine's is on peroglide- it has honestly worked wonders for her. It is expensive, and my vet actually sourced the human drug for me, which works out cheaper (it's approx 88p per 1mg tablet and mine's gets half a tab per day). It doesn't work on all horses but it can do amazing things for those that it does work for.

Thank you for the reply and glad to hear it is working for your horse.
Still waiting for vet to contact me with a price. i did some searching on the net and found prices from £1 -£5:eek: a tablet! Im hoping the vet might be able to write me a prescription so i can source it else where if their prices are ridiculous!

Had so much different advice some people saying try supplement eg naf before going down the drug route and other saying that they have experienced no side effects from pergolide and it works wonders!

My pony is on Vitex + diet. Research by the Laminitis Trust. He has been stable for 3 years now. I would use Pergolide as a last resort.
A friend said she got hers from Boots.
