Hi There I am a newbie, I have riden some bareback and I need some help. My great Hubby got me my first horse. She is a QH 15 hands and is gentle but I think she knows I am a little unsure of myself. Any and all tips are welcome. i do have one question real quik he also got me a Wintec western saddle that has a long nylon strap to hold the girth belt can someone please tell me how thyis works...LOL..I know I am sure your laughing...Thanks for you help.

And no, I bet nobody's laughing.:) In fact, we even have pictures on this site to show how to saddle up a western horse, so you can't be the only one wondering how!

Just click on "western" (under Links at the right side of the page when you're in the Forum), then click on saddling up when you get to the western index.

Welcome to the site. What a nice husband you must have. Mine got me started in lessons with a gift package a few years back, but we're still working on the horse (I'm currently shopping).

Sorry I can't help with the saddle situation. I thought the Wintec's had some sort of buckle-like arrangement on the girth rather than being tied like a normal Western saddle, but I've only once ridden in one.

:) Thanks for all the great info, Kim. Everyone has been so nice in giving me info. Hope everyone gets there dream of owning a horse. I never thought I would ever have one,and yes your right he is a great guy. I think you are right about the saddle too but I am now going on to the page Kim told me. Thanks bunches.
