Just wanted to get some opinions/critique whatever you want to call it on Louie's jumping. He's been jumping for about a year and a half but dont do very much, probly once a month if that and have taught him myself which maybe wasnt the best idea but am pleased with how he's turned out.

Just want to know like what people think of his technique and if he'd do any good in hunter trials, would love to do ODE's on him but his sj isn't very good.

Couple of sj ones aswell to compare, from a show the other day where he actually went round without any refusals or runouts just one down when normally he stops loads.

I think yuo seem to be gripping at the knee and tipping forward from there, rather than letting your weight sink through your calf and down your thigh into your heel so that your bum is back but head and hands forward.
Apart from that yuo are looking up, are relaxed and focused with giving hands, and appear flexible with your body - it shows in your pony, sop well done!

Louie - Don't know his breeding but he looks quite overweight in the pics, and can be quite hollow and flat. (lack of impulsion may be or unfit?). I think he'd do what you want but not to any great height judging by those pics. Cute pony :)

He's a highland and yes is overweight, am working on it though, is due to me having a couple of bad months and not wanting to ride. Which i now feel really bad about as has had a bad effect on him. But am back on track now and getting him slimmed down, though he's off work at the moment due to a kick so not helping

The last one he is very fat in but that was months ago he's not that fat anymore.

Thanks guys.

OMG I am really sorry! For some absurd reason i though you wanted a rider critique ... eek!! Please ignore my post, that'll teach me not to read so fast!
He looks lovely and has a nice technique, with his forelegs coming together better. He's basculing nicely and looks relaxed and focused. Well done!

....very handsome pony.

The last phot is good. He is making a better shape over the fence and has nice tidy front legs. I think he has potential from that. Have you tried exercises at trot that would encourage him to bascule over the jump? He looks happy in his jumping to be honest.

Highlands do seem to put weight on quite easily and he could probably do with losing a bit but he is a very handsome pony!
