Mrs P's first open xc class

Today I took Mrs P to a jump cross thing over near sunny Scunny. I decided to enter the open class because I've put our entry in for a BE Intro in September so I really need to get some miles on the clock over some proper big jumpies.

I got a call from a friend yesterday asking whether I fancied walking the course with him - he was taking his youngster to do the novice class & wanted to take a look so he wouldn't need to walk the course on the day. OK I said sounds good to me. Basically the way they were doing it was 10 showjumps, then out the ring & round a xc course. And this was the second xc jump on the open xc course :eek:

I reckon that's 3 foot 6 even with a stretchy tape measure! Didn't get much sleep last night I can tell you...

So today Mrs P felt great, she jumped round the showjumps really nicely clear, then the first xc jump - a step down - she was a bit hesitant. So next that monster jump - how did she react when she saw it do you think? Well she just pricked her ears & popped straight over, what a star. And she went on to go clear round the rest of the jumps, she really was fabulous :)

Oooo! Well done and I saw you there today!!( I was pushing a pushchair around) The horse I share did his first XC on the novice horse 2 down in the SJ but Clear XC. :)

Well done to nicnacpaddywack's share hoss ;) I do like it at Epworth, the people there are dead friendly & horses seem to go well round the course :)

We're having a bash at going round Winkburn - it's in Notts, just near Southwell. I PN'd there last year with Flynn, the PN was hard but I walked most of the Intro course & it looked OK, challenging but a sensible one to aim for. I hope they haven't put a load of rock hard jumps in this year especially for us :eek:
