Hi,
just wondering how long did you people ride before participating in a show?

hmmm, I rode for several months before participating in a small schooling show, just for fun.

I had been riding for about 6 months before my first gymkhana at my riding school (2nd in the Consolation race!! whoohoo!! lol)
and I was 13 when I did my first ODE and 13 at my first real open show, I had started riding when I was almost 11. I am 21 next month~!

i can remember my first show, many many years-ago , i was 4yrs old and doing lead rein class, the pony was in the line up, and then put his head down to eat, pulling me over his head and hiting the the floor with a bang, i was crying my eyes out, they did give me a special rosette, to shut me up i think .this was at Leeds city show, in yorkshire. they dont have it now. i hope i am a little bit better at staying on now. some would disagree:eek:

My first show was when I was five years old at a small schooling show in the leadline class and the small Walk/2-point Beg. Equitation class. I'm sure I looked pathetic.. but hey! I was having so much fun! I'd only been taking lessons (I rode for fun since I was 1 year [with help of course]) for about 2 weeks but all you really had to do was sit on the pony and not fall off. My friend started a bit later, her first show was last week. She's 15-years old and has been riding for about 4 months now. She entered the walk/trot pleasure pony (she felt embarassed because the beginner equitation class she was going to enter was filled with 'wee ones').
