Having decided to have a BUPA healthcheck I was informed that I am knock kneed. Does this contribute to my poor patient teacher always having to tell me to turn my feet in, which tends to make me grip with the knees, which when I remedy sticks my feet out!!!!!
Half way through your book and finding it very "enlightening" for want of a better phrase. I am a mature rider.

HI there,
Yes indeed it could contribute!Get your instructor to check the flexibility of your ankles, as it can just be tight ankle ligaments that can be causing this, and with very gradual stretching, they can be lengthened.
Is your instructor one of the 'pull the thigh muscle out behind' brigade? This can also affect the position of the feet.
Glad the book is helping!

Thanks Heather,
No, my instructor is excellent and has the patience of a saint. I have all good intentions of stretching exercises but need to be more disiplined. I think at 5 feet 11 I was born with my Dad's bone structure and my mothers (she is 5 feet 3) muscle length.
Since reading the section on pelvic placement and absorbing through the lower back I find myself practising in the wierdest of places, going over speed humps and waiting for th microwave to "ping". Hoping to put it in to practise at the weekend.
Also found the alternating rein system worked well on the horse I ride who had taken to running on in trot my lesson before last.
Thanks again

I had to chuckle at the 'practising over speed bumps'!! I used to ride a motorbike round the farm when I was a teenager, and once I had found the way that I teach the absorption of the movement, used to practise absorbing the bumps that I used to have to negotiate on the cart tracks on my motor bike!!
