What have I done?!
May have volunteered myself for a show on sunday.. I don't usually have confidence issues but am very very nervous! any spelling errors are due to shaky hands.. :)
When I say first show I'm lying - i actually went to exactly the same show 2 years ago with Laurrie. But something went dreadfully wrong and he took off across the showground after rearing into the back of somebody else's horse, as I was trying to get on :o Cue the usual show people whispering loudly behind my back about a dangerous horse and an inadequate handler/rider ETC. and they were right to an extent because i wasn't ready.
Laurrie has big confidence issues which I didn't know back then having only ridden him for 6 months in a ring. I was so excited myself I didn't pay attention to what he was telling me and wouldn't have had the experience to translate the signs even if I had noticed them.
So anyway, 2 years on and the confidence issues have improved at home and on hacks, the idea is to reintroduce him to the atmosphere slowly. I may not even compete - just walk him around.
Also, we're hacking there, so I won't have to tack him up in a strange environment or anything else stressful and he should relax.
But then there's the totally immature problem of there being some people there who have been downright rude to me and my yard for a while - long story i won't go into. :) So i'm going to be under scrutiny from not only them but everybody else who saw laurrie's previous showing fiasco.
Ahh!!!! and if THAT wasn't enough I'm going with 2 girls who have never ever shown before so I need to set a good example and make sure they're alright first.
Oh dear
Thankfully I have the best 'support team' I could ask for so I shall stop moaning and be glad for the opportunity to finally make some headway.
:D
Thank you, really needed to vent that  my hands have stopped shaking!
Cookie for getting this far and HOPEFULLY photos some time next week
*goes off to rock slowly and unblinking in a corner*
