Hi! I tried to post a message but I think I messed up so here it goes again: I do basic jumping and dressage. I don't have my own horse but have found a great deal on a dressage saddle. So my question is: Can I use it even though I will jump in it as well as do dressage or is that a no-no? Any advice is welcome!!

Hey!
I have a dressage saddle, because I LOOOVE dressage, but my horse is a horse that likes to jump, but it scares me a lot. Anyway, I've allowed her to jump with the saddle. You can't show in a jumping show will a dressage saddle, so if you can find an all purpose saddle, that might be a better bet. :) They can be used for jumping and dressage, and cross country if you want. :D Hope that helps!

Thank you! Perhaps I should look for a GP saddle after all..

I wouldn't dream of jumping seriously in a dressage saddle. It puts you in the completely wrong position for a forward seat. If you aint specialising go for a GP.

hello!
You said you have your own horse, do you always ride the same horse at the place where you ride? The saddle must be fitted to the horse so if you don't always ride the same horse, it really isn't worht buying a saddle at all as you will need to have the saddler up to fit it to each and every horse that you ride - this could get very expensive as he will need to come to each lesson with you!
bye!

Hi
Thorowgood do a GP saddle which is designed by Heather and is more like a dressage saddle, I believe it has removable knee pads so you can use it for dressage or jumping. It is a synthetic saddle and costs about £299
