Oh, gad, I had a terrible ride today. I couldn't free-lunge because someone else was in the arena; I couldn't gallop because the ground outside the arenas is too squishy. I lunged on a line, but it apparently wasn't enough. I could not get that horse to LISTEN to me. We'd been doing so well, and today's ride just sucked big time. I'm so miserable I'm ready to cry. *Nothing* I tried to do worked. We were so completely out of sync.

Somebody remind me why we do this again?

Because you'll be so proud on the next good day, and you know it!

Because if you didn't you'd be left with a big, horse-shaped hole in your heart!:)

Because horses are an epidemic- and there is NO cure! Once you've got it, you'll never get rid of it ;)

BTW, all the bad times only makes us stronger than others!

This is just what I need, as I took a fall from a riding school horse yesterday. The horse stumbled and I just went. To make matters worse, I rode like a complete and utter idiot, and once the lesson had finished, I dismounted, the horse stood on my toe (ouch!) and when I tried to push her off, she swung her head round staight into my cheekbone.

Talk about wanting to cry!!!

:(

So this thread is very timely

Thank you! :)

Heather (with a very stiff leg, a swollen toe and a bruised cheekbone)

...Because you would be bored with nothing to do and the good days make up for the bad ones.

Then of course you would not be on this board with a great bunch of people :D

Simply, because we can't live without them.

Because the worst day with horses is better than the best day at the office.

Beverley...at the office right now, wishing I could even smell a horse from where I sit.

Oh Bev - that's my mantra! I'm thinking of having bumper stickers done :)

Because there is nothing like the feeling when things go right...
Because when Kat or Duchess looks at you w/love & trust, you know that all is right with the world..
Because just the smell of a horse can make all of your cares lift away...
Because what else would you do with your time and money? :D
And most of all....because we all know we would be miserable people without them....

I love just watching their interactions and behaviors - sometimes they are so subtle. When our little cat went into the field with my mare and foal, the filly started over to inspect this new creature - and her mother just walked over and intercepted her path, and gently with her nose, moved the filly away and they headed off. Why filly couldn't play with kitty was unknown, but mom decided "no cats!". I was watching and a little nervous for Jenna the cat - maybe that influenced, or maybe Mom didn't want baby slashed on the nose?

And one year, my Morgan gelding and our then weanling Haflinger gelding found a snapping turtle moving slowly through their field. Ouch ! They BOTH were too curious and ended up with snapped noses. Treatable but they were quite surprized.

Anyways, couldn't live without the entertainment value. Better than TV!
