In the future im looking to breed one foalie from my mare Ellie for myself to keep.
I was looking on Anton as i love him but found out today they dont do frozen semen.
What ster stallions are there in the uk ? Obviously nearer the better.
Ellie will be checked over by a vet before i proceed further, but nothing wrong with a bit of window shopping before hand.
:D

Talk to Black horses, she breeds Friesians and has a couple of stunning stallions.

Can you not import chilled semen from the netherlands?
I too looked at both Anne and Anton a few years ago for my mare.....but had the same problem.....no frozen semen from the USA.
You would be able to get Tietse's semen from the USA though....although he's pretty expensive, and I believe Wander is available to europe through frozen semen.
I don't think the price difference between using an approved stallion from the netherlands or a ster stallion in the UK, would make alot of difference in price to be honest.....at least if you go approved - you will get yellow FPS papers, rather than Bi-boek papers for the foal....depends what you want as the end result though.
I know where a star stallion is, but I know they will not breed him to registered friesian mares, as their principle is that the registered mares should be covered by an apporved stallion......don't know whether this has changed or not though.
Theres plenty of nice choices in the netherlands.....Piters semen was pretty cheap to import.....although, he wasn't everyone's 'cuppa tea'.
What is Ellie's bloodline?
Stallions such as Brandus are available at 800 euros, Brend at 600 euro.
Or you could go for the wonderful Feitse, Tsjerk or Onne.........well, theres lots to choose from. Felle is a pretty lovely newer stallion.
You need to try and improve on the foal any weak points on your mare....so this should be considered when choosing him......and price can obviously have a large impact on choice.
Anyway good luck....let us all know what you decide on!!!!:D
