I can be sort of shy sometimes so when someone takes over, I do not know how to approach them. Like, a few days ago I was putting a bridle on the horse and needed a little help. So someone came over and offered to help. I said surre
( I could use it);) and they took the bridle and put in on themselves without askinghow I needed the help. I tryed to signal them by not lettnig go of the horse, but like I was dumb they said O, you can let go of the horse now. I can not stand it! THen, when they were done, they said something like, " sometimes you need to BLAH BLAH BLAH. I already knew that. Plus, they knew nothing about the horse bacause you didn not have to do that to CAndy! I jtold them that. I am als o going to horse camp and will not enjoy that if they are taking over! I need A LOT of suggestions on how to approach them. I need to say something small. DO not tell me to straightforward. I am very shy and could not handle that. I know that I am overreacting and that they mean to be nice but still... you know. The more suggestions the better. HELP!

Perhaps when someone asks you if you need some help, ask them to talk you through doing something, pointing out any mistakes you make, rather than take over. If somebody does take over, tell them what it is you can't do, then tell them when you feel you can carry on.

for example: If you were fitting the bridle and were having trouble with getting it over the horses ears and poll (You're 9 right?) ask for help with getting it over the horses head, but when they have done what it is you couldn't. Say "thanks, I'll be alright now". Then carry on yourself.

Not sure if this a great help but every little bit helps. :)
Good luck.

Another way you could approach this problem is ask someone just to watch you do whatever, and then if you get ask them to advise you what to do. you could then ask them to watch you do it again to make sure your doing it right.
Dont worry what people think they wont think your stupid or anything as it takes guts to ask, and shows you want to do it properly.
People wont mind helping so just ask.

If someone came by and offered help, you could say- Ya- How do you think I could do this part? If they take over then after they are done thank them and take off the bridle and say- OK, lets see if I can do this.
