Hi everyone!
I've just joined the site, and wondering if anyone else has a standardbred or an interest in harness racing? I've always had standardbreds and currently own Benny who still races. He's black, aprox 15.2h has four socks and a star. Will get round to uploading a pic up some point lol.

I have no experience with them, but I seriously considered getting one before I got Jackson. I've always wanted to go to some of the local harness races, just never gotten around to it.

A friend of mine has a Standy, who was a harness racer at one point. I have photos of him somewhere, including one of me in the saddle...

I used to exercise 2 standardbreds yrs ago, both beautiful horses, but a bugger to sit on at the trot!
Looking forward to seeing your pics:)

My friend has Standardbred, her YO has a world record breaking standardbred stallion, can't remember his name though. Apparently he was unbeated, don't know if he still holds it though.

They're lovely, her youngsters only 4 but you can do anything with her she's quite laid back. Bloody fast trot mind, she's trained her cob to pace though so she can keep up. It's very difficult to sit. Lovely hosses :)

We don't need much of an excuse to show off our standies!
Mine is Rob (or sundance teddy if you can believe such a name!), 5 year old 16.2 ish if not more. Came to me with chunks out of him and rug rubs from previous home. He's enjoying rehab..
Kind, gentle, well mannered, Looks a bit bored and depressed sometimes, loves a ride, we managed our first trot figure 8 the other day. I was so chuffed!! Simple life I lead...
I actually prefer to ride his pace, it's gentle and smooth but he gets big praise for a session of 'normal' trot, only paces when he gets confused or panics. Easy to canter from a walk. Overall, a lovely chap to have around.
Just love to see him lazily trot up the paddock with my cob pelting after him, hell for leather at full steam, trying to look cool. :)

I have a beautiful standy mare called Flicka:) She is 18 and had been neglected for the past few years until rescued 6 months ago. She is an ex-pacer and had 99 starts and is a dream to ride (which is really saying something as I have not ridden for more than 15 years!

I think standardbreds are the most under-rated breed, I don't think I will have any other breed from now on.

I have a coloured standard bred X Cob. Great jumper, his dad was a racer called Duko kept at Carlisle, now retired from racing and pulls the wedding carts at Gretna Green! His mum was a 14.2 pony cob.

Hi! Came across this thread only now, we have had loads of standardbreds and have done loads of harness racing too (trotting not pacing), with both STBs and Finnish drafts. I come from Finland where harness racing and monte are the equivalent to English racing! Viri, our current Finnish draft there also used to race when he was younger, but is mainly now used for forest work. Dad used to professionally train and drive harness horses, but now that he has gotten older we keep horses just as a hobby, to mainly ride during summer and do forest work during winter.

I have a standardbred mare called Kristal, she has not raced but both her parents have.

She is the most wonderful horse in the world i'd trust her with my life.

I used to work at a harness racing yard before i had K, rode many standardbreds, best breed ever!!!

Kristal is so honest and dream to ride, going to start endurance this year as i think she is well suited to it, can't wait for our first ride in a week!!!

I might as well add a few photos of Beauty, the standardbred mare on my old yard. She's about 16 I think, and a real sweety :)
She's the black in these pics (excuse the scowls!):
