I went looking in a reference book today, one that I've read several times. I've never read the intro--I usually skip intros, the author's thoughts on the material doesn't often interest me ;)
In this intro, was instructions on getting the proper canter lead by first "two-tracking" off the rail. Two-track, by the included figure, is clearly haunches-in. (The attribution there is for a Western training book.)
Considering the earlier discussion on canter leads, and many people's unfamiliarity with this method, I find it amusing that I had this right next to me in a reference the whole time. Oops.
