I brought Flynn back into work 2 weeks ago.
A couple of reason,s but 1 was down to his size, if I left it nearer to the spring grass arriving explosive Horse I felt!

The first time I sat on him, was strange, as I felt a little like when he was first backed and the unknown likelyhood of how he would react.

I had no worries, Flynn was so good. All instruction still in those memory cells.

But I have to say the rest off has been obviously good for him.
I could not get over the trot, when I asked, it was so light, and springy. As is he had springs under his feet. I felt we floated along.

But as some may have seen I am the lame one now, so Melissa is covering for me. We have not gone back into heavy work, it has been a gradual process and at present with limited spaces available in the school at night also restrict us. So far only once or twice a week is managed, for max total. Plus Sat & Suns

I have so say, I am so pleased as the trot has just got better and better. We have him going through trot poles, and he has floated, being very careful. Where in the past he could be clumsy at times.
Today we brought in a raised pole at side of the school boundry, also a blue plastic sheet on the ground, (our pretend water!) to make sure he still copes with the unusal again.
He just popped over it so neatly, clear and careful, making such a lovely shape. Landing in a lovely balanced canter, so much more Up Canter then ever before. We never expected that result.

Melissa sat there beeming, she said he was so comfortable.

He did so well, the poles beautifully, then a raised pole, and then the plastic water with small pole over it. PLus the Canter and trot so much improved. He had breaks in between.

We did not push it, it was superb, short, quality, and left there.

Melissa then took him out for a bit of fun on the open grassland.
You could see him grinning!

I am well chuffed. I cant wait to get back on, but advice is to take this slowly and get a better long term recovery. I am going to do that.

I had no idea how this would work out, but so far I sit back and feel very pleased with Our Work so far.

I am lucky to have such a good horse though. The ingrediants were there, I just have to get the receipe right. So far it is coming out not bad to our eyes.

Well done to Flynn - just two weeks. I can imagine your pride - or relive it in a strange kind of way. I was congratulated today because of Kerry's "balanced" canter, and it felt SO good - the canter I mean.

I really hope everything continues to go so well.

Thanks Kerry,
I try to write as it is, so perhaps that gives a good picture.

We all try to get it right, and when it happens we want to shout to the whole world!

I want to say, though it was all small, and taken cartefully, I did not want it to appear all rushed and asking a lot all straight away.

We did not expect him to jump the poles, we thought, oh he might trot over, or like he did sometimes in the past, ignore them and knock it all about. like Bull in China Shop.

You know yourself, the feel of that balanced canter is SOOOOO good.
I sadly can only watch from the ground at my daughter in amazement, envy as I want to be up there. But so proud.

Are we all sad.

Mirium, yes we are proud. he is a great horse. You never know what he might become. It only seems like yesterday when he was looked at.
My sights were ODE, Elementary Dressage, that was what I told the vet when he was vetted!

One day it could happen. Just need to start on the Positive Pills! for me.

Thank you

I do know that feeling - of watching!! In my case it has been watching Eraldo (on and off for about a year in fact), or Sam (when we go for a hack), or Sue Carnell of course (when Sue's training her, or helping her rid herself of pent up emotions (only happened once actually). In fact I watched Eraldo last week - this was because of Kerry's ??? jaw problems but also I wanted to see how her canter was coming on with Eraldo too.

Anyway, all the very very best to you both. Sue btw will be coming up soon - I'll let you all know when and if you wish to join us for a while you will be very very welcome.

My nickname as a child was Wuz... a childish Sue backwards, my rhyme was Fuzzy Wuzzy, no idea why, though I did once have a perm that went wrong. I'm also known as cynical sue. Friends spent a whole evening making up a Viz comic strip of Sue the Cynic. Hmm. Sorry Sandra, I'm Sue Carnell... as is my mother in law! ;)

It wasn't that long ago that I was Sue the cynic, last year, or the year before? It was really funny, but you had to be there. They would say something and then give the cynical Sue view and it was spot on to be honest. Would have made a great viz strip, if you were in the pub and not driving. :D At least it's not like hubby. Sat with the same friends, he once said very seriously that he was a very tolerant person. He can't say anything now without being told (sarcastically) how very tolerant he is. Every time he complains, he's told that of course it wouldn't upset him as such a tolerant person. As he isn't, it's wearing a little thin now and he tolerates less and less, which makes it even more funny of course. Wez the Tolerant and Sue the Cynic. We sound like royalty.

PS: Some of the perpetrators are on NewRider.

OK well I've still got a lot to learn then. I'd still swear you are just a bit "wise" so are just a bit cautious (spelling, it's late) to latch on to "new" ideas until you've checked them out a bit more.

btw folks this is the pupil teaching the trainer!!!!!!!
