I have decided to maybe do show this year and have found a prelim 6 test but really want to start with walk trot tests.

Just getting to grips with cantering, having taken a year to get past the transition stage I have managed to get round the school in one go. Now I need to learn how to stop her when I want to stop!!!!!

Any one know a site that I can print some off of?

thanks

see this previous thread (http://www.newrider.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16407&highlight=dressage+tests) for a link that Galadriel posted....

Unfortunately the UK guys are still charging for copies of tests; seems a bit short sighted. I seem to recall they just charged enough to cover costs - so unless they have changed to making a profit, surely it would make more sense to publish on the web and let people bear their own printing costs. Ah well, maybe some day they'll come into the same century as the rest of us...

p.s. if there is canter in a test, just do the same shape but in walk or trot, progressing to canter when you are ready.

In a 'real' test you would just score zero for those movements, so you could actually do unaffiliated tests in a competition as a training exercise and accept that you will get a bad score for those movements. At least you would get some feedback on the other parts of the test.

Thanks for that CVB, I didn't realise I could omit bits. Might well be worth concidering.

There are no walk-trot tests in the UK except for Pony Club dressage tests D1 and D2. Just practice the test at home and trot the canter bits. I would suggest not having a go at competing until you can do the canter bits or if you are desperate to have a bash ride HC in the class and tell the judge that you will be trotting the canter sections. If you don't tell the judge they will stop you every time you don't canter and inform you of an error of course. Four errors means elimination and most if not all the prelim tests will have four marks for the canter work.

cvb is right about publishing on the web, and I expect they'll get there one day - meanwhile, lots of tack shops sell them, they only cost pennies, and your local riding club is likely to have a set too.
