Hi, im looking at getting a 3.5 ton box for my 21st birthday and im not sure what type to get. it all depends on how expensive they are to run. ive got a ford car at the moment and im spending about £40 a month filling it up going to writtle and back everyday. the horse box i want to get is van conversion... i was wondering how much they cost to run if i were to do the same amount of miles without the horses. as id use it to work / uni when the horses arnt inside. any ideas or advice?
Thanks

I'd guess you'd get about 25mpg.

It will definitely cost you a lot more to run than your car, both in fuel costs and in maintenance costs. I have been looking into getting the same type of box but have decided to settle for a 4x4 and trailer as although it will be 2 lots of tax,mot etc the overall costs and useage would be more economical.Mind you I wouldn't be using it as an everyday vehicle.

My 3.5 tonne Renault Master does around 28mpg. I doubt you'll find a box that uses the same amount of fuel as average sized car.
