Debby-
You'll love it. The only thing I don't like about it is that mine's in paperback and I'd rather have it in hardcover. :)

Heather, btw, if you read this, I love the pic of you & Butch & Shifty (sounds like a bunch of Old West outlaws with those names). Butch is giving you such a kind look and his story is so touching.

HI Shelley,

Yes, I love that pic too. I lost dear old Butch aged 28, three years ago this June, and still miss him dreadfully. He was one of the best horses I have ever owned and very much 'my' horse. Shifty is still with us, although he was kicked in the head by a horse five years ago and is very lucky to be alive.

Butch's registered name was 'Dawn Royal' which suited him when all done up for a competition, but his normal persona was much more suited to 'Butch' a nickname he acquired before I had him when he was an eventer. His breeder, with whom I am still in contact, called him 'Royal' to his dying day, but when you went out to get him in from the field, and saw a white horse so covered in mud that the only white bits left were the insides of his ears, with a malevolent grin on his face at the look on yours, the name 'Royal' didn't quite fit!!

Shifty got his name from an Irish character in a TV sitcom over here called 'Bread'- Shifty was the black sheep of the family. Everyone said to me when our Shifty was a very cute pup 'Fancy calling him that'. I said 'Wait till he grows up' and sure enough, the name fitted perfectly!!!

Thank you Haether for your post, I am expecting the book to arrive in the post by Wed 5th Feb, so no doubt i will not be on the forum, while i get stuck into it.

I am sure that it will live up to my expectations, it came so highly recommended by so many people.
