what colour is this horse??

been looking at this website for a while, dreaming about which of them to buy! love the look of this one. says hes a strawberry roan, but i'm not sure..

I dunno if hes roan - thought they had "darker" faces? Maybe he has the "splash" gene because of the white face? Or the "sabino" gene because of the socks???
I have no clue - best bet is to ask chev!

He has a black mane and tail and i would say he was mouse dun... (if it has a dorsal stripe) its also known as Grullo

Im not convinced he is roan you know (I could be wrong though - and willing to accept it if I am!).....I think hes more likely to be a bay rabicano...possibly with the splash and/or sabino gene....but Im no expert.

He may be chocolatey buckskin...or simply a bay that has been clipped.....wheres Chev when you need confirmation, huh!?

ETA - Can you get a "chocolate" Buckskin? lol

id say either bay roan or some sort of dun although not very good at ammericain colours lol

I'm not convinced he's roan at all. His head is the same dilute colour his body is - that's not roan. Roan leaves head and legs unchanged.

You can indeed get chocolatey buckskins; usually called sooty buckskins. Sabino he definitely is - looks like he has splash too. It's possible the sabino is causing roaning on his body but I'd still say he looks more buckskin than anything.

Doesn't look roan to me either.

My clydie mare is down on her passport as 'red roan and white' she is actually (as chev told me BTW,I won't take the credit,although I never thought she was a true roan) a bay with sabino.

The sabino gives the white legs and face and in her case belly and causes lots of white hairs running through certain parts of her coat,hence the roan effect.She has 'loud markings' as chev called it:o

Perhaps this boy is the same with the legs and face etc??

Take away the white markings and I would go along with chev on the buckskin theory.
