what do you all understand by the phrase 'light hacking only' in an advertisement for a horse? i understand it to mean the horse shouldnt be ridden too much and only on short hacks a couple of times a week - is this right?

I also understand it to mean hacking at walk and trot rather than anything faster.

I understand it as hacking out at a walk, with a little bit of trot.

Light hacking to me would be riding at a walk with the odd trot but nothing faster than that.

Yep, ditto the others, hacking at a walk with a bit of trotting, a few times a week, nothing at all strenuous :).

mostly walk (80%) with small amount of trot hack upto about 30 mins once twice a week perhaps or for the more general ads once in a blue moon cos otherwise it will keel over.
a light hack is for someone who likes a horse to groom and care for and spend time watching it eat in the field, maybe have a tootle around the village/field once in a while
