Only needs to have road tax to be parked on the road - MOT-less is fine as long as you're not driving it, which you're not so you're fine!

Unless you are lucky with your timing you cannot buy tax without proof of insurance and MOT

Ah, but I bet you wouldn't be without it - I'm jealous!

I used to have a lovely wee lorry but it got PTS a few years ago. Very sad.

No MOT = no insurance (therefore illegal) so if parked on road and something happens you are not covered.

all it needs to sit on the road is a valid displayed tax disc, by law.
But if something does happen to it whilst its on the road, having no M.O.T will in validate the insurance, like wonkey says, but that does not make it illegal to sit on the road. Just covers your own back.

Just checked with friendly policeman. If a vehicle is without either MOT or Tax then any insurance is invalid and it is illegal for it to be on a public road, stationary or not.

Dont forget the Police have instant access to your tax,mot nad insurance details on their database and can find out in minutes if your vehicle is legal.

i think you'll acctually find that the only way having no MOT invalidates your insurance only in the case of an accident. If the vehicle is being driven on the road, then yes, it is (in theory) illegal. The only itme having no MOT on your vehicle be it a motorbike, car, trailer etc is in the instance of having an accident. As long as a vehicle has valid tax disc visibly diaplayed then it can be parked where ever you want to park it, be it on a public highway or a private road.
If you want to argue this then thats fine, but i know this from personal experience (from having an accident). Plus certain members of my family are in the police force and have confirmed all this with me.

No MOT = NO INSURANCE. All vehicles kept on the public highway MUST have valid tax, insurance and MOT.

The ONLY time you can have a vehicle on the road with no MOT/tax is when you are driving to a test centre with a prebooked appointment and even then your insurance company can argue the toss.

Without prejudice
