We are looking to down grade to a traler, but need to do the towing test!!!
What is involved in doing it and do you know of any good schools? Im based in essex/london

I haven't done the test myself and sadly can't recommend anywhere in the South BUT the test involves a period of driving with trailer similar to a normal driving test and then reverse manoeuvres. Good point is you don't have to re-do any kind of theory test, just produce your licence. A friend paid about £700 for the test and 14hrs tuition using an instructor's vehicle and trailer.

I'm afraid i can't recommend anywhere near you as i'm in the North West.
I did the test a couple of years ago. It cost about £350 for a 2 and a half day course including the test. I had to do the road test which included going on a motorway, then back at the test centre i had to do an emergency stop, reversing exercise, un-hitch and re-hitch and i had to answer some maintenance questions.
