Hello everyone.
We are toying with the idea of buying a lorry, and have just been and looked at a nice one. The only thing we are not quite sure about, is what size horse would fit in it. The horse area is 7' across, 5'6" long, and 6'9" high, with the horses designed to travel sideways (two horses, 1 partition).
I would be really grateful if anyone could give me an idea on what size horse this would comfortably accomodate.
Thanks,
Sarah.

Hi Sarah, that's the same across as Jo's lorry and the same interior width as our trailer which is supposed to take 2x 16.2. What was it like, I guess from those measurements the living must be really big.

The living is really nice, done up very nicely. The whole thing had been done for his girlfriend, so had taken a lot of care and effort with it.
But I've measured Willow's trailer, and I think it's just going to be a bit too small. Willow will probably go in, but then I think you would have to be careful about the size of the horse that went in with her.
I think for that kind of money, I would want to be able to pop any horse in, and not worry about who I couldn't or couldn't take with us.

Oh well never mind hopefully something more suitable will come along. It would have been fine for us, Jo's lorry is almost a square for the horses, that's why we could get our 3 on.

My lorry's horse area is 10 ft long, 7ft 6 wide & 7 ft 5 high. It can carry 3 horses up to about 16hh but when Mrs P (16.2 and long backed - 7ft rug) is installed that reduces to 2! 6 ft 9 headroom isn't much at all and the box is short & narrow too. My lorry is very dinky as 3 horse boxes go, the one your describe is about half the size & really does sound like a pony box TBH.

Thank Iron Maiden, I think you're right. Shame, because it ticked all the other boxes, but not much good if it's not fit for (my) purpose!
