How can everyone tell if they are in the correct riding position? Legs underneath? Back straight?

You should be in the ear-shoulder-hip-heel line, with your weight mostly in your thighs, and your back straight, your heels down and under your seat. Your upper arms should hang just by your side (I had a habit once of sticking them out but that's more or less cured now) and there should be a straight line from your elbow, down the reins and to the horse's mouth! :) Well, that's all I can think of so far...
