The question is really in the title :) I have a competition coming up this weekend and thanks to my sister's horse who likes to munch through rugs, I'm down to using my show rug as a paddock rug.

Does anyone have any tips/tricks on how to get mud/dirt stains out so that it will at least look respectable when I arrive?

Any suggestions would be really helpful, as I'm normally reduced to spending a couple of hours scrubbing with a broom and washing powder and THEN machine washing it  Not fun!

Thanks in advance for any replies :)

I know this might sound daft but we take ours to the jet wash. We have one that costs £1.00.

Then put it in the washing machine.
