i currently have my horse insured for 1500 as this is what i paid and i have loss of use and death on the policy, i also have my mare and shannon insured however just for small amounts of value and they all have vet fee's,
however i am thinking about taking the loss of us and death off them and dropping the value that mac is insured for in a bid to save some money, do you think the insurance company will allow me? i am wanting to keep vet cover and disposal and other essential things however i am not that bothered about loss of use and death.
will i have to wait till my renewal or do it now?
i have liability through my bhs memebership so i dont need that on the policy either
going to ring in the morning but just wondered what you lot thought

Had Mills insured for £4,000 plus all vet cover etc, so in an effort to save money, put her worth down to £1,000
ha should not have bothered, made £5 difference to the premium,,,,,
not worth it.....

thats not much of a difference, did they let you do it half way through a policy? i think i pay about 35 a month for mac at the moment but if i drop him to 500 it goes to 17 a month.

I don't know about horse insurance whatsoever!
However, with my car, I saved quite a substantial amount by increasing the excess. I made it £200 in the event of a claim instead of £50 and it dropped quite a bit.
Not sure if you can with horse insurance but that might be worth a try?

you can with horse insurance but you have the option of standard with 115 excess or higher with 500 excess i can manage to pull out 115 incase of injury but not 500

I haven't bothered with Loss of Use on either of mine which does keep costs down. My ponies are insured for vets fees, death, disposal and third party liability through KBIS. They're on a special plan through my vets so although my monthly payments are higher, I get special rates for vaccinations, tooth rasping, etc and an annual health check.
