My instructor says I'm a natural, I think he's just being nice. It's just that I can totally forget about everything else when I'm riding so I just like connect with the horse. School, family, friends, everything just melts away. All the stress just leaves. Does anyone else experiance this?

Yep:D
That's why riding is such great therapy.

Oh yes. There are many things I love about riding, but the opportunity it gives me to tune out the world is a big part of why I so quickly got addicted. I find I especially become absorbed when I'm jumping a course.

same, it's why I love riding. You can just totally focus on what you like, without people there to laugh at you for your obsession with horses, because everyone else is the same.

Definitely - often after a hard day at work I am driving to the barn, then tacking up my horse, thinking, "I am really not in the mood for this" or "My knee is killing me" or "I going to freeze my &^&*%$* off in that arena". Then, as soon as I start working, I forget everything and get into that zone.
The best thing is that I have a great instructor and feel an improvement every time I ride, so that the zone feels better and better, and my horse feels better and better. I guess that is why there is a book out now called "The Zen of Riding" or something like that!
Maybe part of being a natural is being able to do this?
I also know that if I don't ride for more than a couple of days, I get grumpy and mean.

I totally have withdraw symptoms from not riding ahh.
But i was lucky enough to be able to pick up a ride from a friend - she was riding at a show i was the groom half way through the show she gave up and said there is no way im jumping so i got called in, and rode her horse for the jumping classes i had ridden this horse twice but never jumped it. Got on won the first class :D, second class the dam horse stopped twice at every jump lol he is 19 and been round a bit so everyone said that he is use to his owner (who cant jump so he always stops on her) so he was doing that and he was testing me cause he knew i could ride. then next class he learnt that i could really ride and proceed to do a great clear round (round the ring type of show) so the second time round he liked that idea and decide to try and bolt so i couldn't stop for ages and got 4th with a bleeding hand from trying to stop. lol sorry long story i really do miss riding *sigh*

I feel the same way. I get all nervous before I get to my lesson (only had two so far) because i'm not sure what my instructer will be teaching me. Then as soon as I see Raz I completely forget my nervousness because I have to focus on him. she didn't say I was a natural but she said I pickup on how to do things really fast. I told her I've read a million books on riding and horses so I know in my mind what I'm supposed to be doing I just have to see if I can do it in reality.

yes i also experence that . riding horses gets you outside and connect with a animal. I sometimes ride in the weekdays if i come home from a lousy day at school. People said that i was a nautural when i started riding but i knew i wasent. Now maybe i am . Riding horses are a fun way to relax and just have some fun.

I was visiting my favorite horse Rezi and I lost track of time just petting him and watching him eat. The lights went out so I ran to the barn door and i was locked. I did find one door that wasn't locked though. This doesn't really have to do with the topic but oh well:D
