I wanted to share my light bulb moment with you guys.
Maybe it could help someone else also.
My new horse has a much rounder jump than I am used
to, and uses his hind end a LOT. He is young and
inexperienced and that hind end just about hits him
on the head! (at least that is what it feels like!)
I was having trouble staying off his back over the jump &
into the landing - I would try to stay with him but end up
collapsing over the fence.
It improved 100% when my instructor got me to "push my
belly button towards his crest".
I found I was able to stay off his back, stay with him over
the fence and he was so much softer on landing.
It felt great!
