my 16hh boy has always travelled well, but used to be in an ifor williams 510 with his best mate, since i have been travelling him on his own, he is being a pain!
i have a 505 which he loads into really well, trots in no problem but then starts pawing the floor and when we get to our destination he has knocked the partition down every time!! he does this when travelling with our pony too, who he does like!

does anyone know why he is doing this? or how to stop him

There is more space in a 510.
Try him without partition and see if he just wants more room.

Do you think it may be he's had a bad journey recently and it has unsettled him?

Not criticising your driving but we've all had to brake a bit sharper than we'd like when towing.

Also, are you sure your partition is attached correctly, they aren't designed to be just "knocked down".

If it was me, I'd get full length bars and travel without a partition.

Sounds like he just feels to tight for space. Ditto the suggestion of taking the partition out altogether. He might not be able to be travelled in the smaller trailer.

Remember there is also a lot less headroom so he maybe feels claustrophobic.

I agree about larger trailers and more room

I spent 20 years with my old boy being terrible to load and travel. I swapped to a 510 because our youngsters ears were on the roof  as she grew so much.

He now loads himself and travels perfectly.

yes its possible, but i feel like he wouldn't load so willingly if he didnt like it, he practically trots in,
i havent got full width bars so cant take partition out and dont take him out very often so didnt want to buy them if anyone thought it could be another reason!!
