I saw this ad in a uk magazine and thought, wow that sounds like my perfect job!
It was a position at a pretty decent college as an Equine lecturer. It paid about 20 000 pounds a year. You had to have a teaching qualification and your BHS stages or something to that effect.
I was thinking, have I already burned my bridges? Or could I work towards a job like this over the coming years if I chose?
I do some teaching at university already, (IT and Essay writing) and by the end of this year I should have a PhD in mate choice in animals and humans, as well as my initial degree in Psychology (2:1- so fairly good!). I am about to start a homestudy course on horses and work towards my BHS stages. And I may be starting a new job soon, taking care of horses in the mornings. I love teaching and I love talking horses!
Anyone out there already do this job? Can I do something to give myself a chance of doing something like this, even if only part time?
Thanks!!

Hi Arabesque

I don't know if this helps or not but the link below shows staff profiles for equine lecturing staff at moreton morrell college so you can see the types of qualifications they have.

We've got quite a lot in common actually - I'm a lecturer in IT as well but would rather teach horses too! I also come from Northumberland originally as well, and plan to do a phd as well (although still struggling through an MSc at the moment!).

Best of luck with your equine studies.
Jo:)

Wow this is fascinating stuff! Thankyou HMJo! There's a lot of variation there isn't there?
Hey who knows in a few years we could be teaching at the same place!! Here's hoping!!
