In BSJA juniors (or seniors for that matter) how high are they allowed to make the fences of the second phase?
Are they only allowed to be up to height? Or can they go over?
Thanks

we've seen most of phase 2 same height cos they are going over the same jumps, just in a different order or a different way and then one or two extra jumps in that aren't jumped in phase 1 but are in phase 2

Second phase can be up to 10cm higher than first phase max height.
Ie senior Discovery will be 1mtr in phase 1 but 1.10mtr in phase 2. Course builders are allowed a tolerance of 5cm above max so it is possible for a disco 2nd phase to have some jumps at 1.15mtr. Rare but I have seen it.

At my local un-affiliated last year I was in the 2ft3 2 phase & the second phase some of the jumps were at 2ft9, they said the rule book was based on BSJA rulings so not sure if they have a set guide as to what height they can make the 2nd phase. That was quite a jump in height I thought!

That would be just about within the rules but not really appropriate for that level of class. Not goood course building

Same thing happened to someone I know, hence the question ;)

That's what I thought, horse didnt end up going through the 2nd phase so was just as well, think it would have been a bit of a disaster :o

I had that recently at a local unaff show. Was only doing the 2' class, but the second phase the jumps were up to 2'6 and just as wide. I ended up not doing the class, as I didn't think it fair on my pony who probably would have gone clear in the first phase (we normally do at 2foot) to then be expected to clear jumps at 2'6, when we hadn't even jumped that high together.
I do wish these things were explained more clearly on the entry forms for unaffiliated SJ. I lost my entry fee, as I had pulled out.
