i would say he is crossed with a cobas he doesnt have very much feather but still looks the weight of a cylde so not crossed with anything lighter than a cob.

In my opinion, he's definately a Welsh Cob x Clydesdale, and you can tell by the way he is very short coupled but tall and had a nice wavy tail as well as an elegant Clydesdale head :) His neck and the way he is standing in the first piccy also seems to be a bit of a giveaway, and i think you're totally right about him having the middle section of a Cob (which is a good thing as my Pony has the middle section of a cob too :p) but has a Clydesdale's powerful hindquarters :) His legs are probably what has thrown you off as he has particularly fine legs for such a big, strong animal, but i think that might be a little of a Welsh cob's Arab bloodlines poking through :p
I think he looks lush no matter what he is!! :D

he looks like a old fashioned stamp of welsh cob (which may well have had clydie/shire influences, it has most things in, whatever escaped onto the mountains at the time!) ;)

Well he is definitely a cross, legs are too fine and not enough feather for a pure bred clyde, are just the first two things that jump out at me.
I was originally thinking something lighter built like TB due to the fineness of his legs (I know they're not 'fine' by normal standards but for a clyde they are!!),although there isn't much else about him that say's TB or similar, and actually there is something about the way he is put together around the mid section that reminds me of a cob,so welsh cob could be a good guess.
I have to say I'm not really seeing the clyde either,I am assuming he is as you said so,but having owned a clyde there's not much about him apart from the white markings that are jumping out at me as clyde??
