Help

My boys got bald patches, behind his girth where my legs go, I have to use a lot of leg cause he's lazy especially when hes out on the road, does anyone else have a similar problem, it seems to have got worse since I started wearing chaps 18 months ago! but only really became noticeable in the last few weeks :(

Sorry I have no advice to offer, but I have had the same problem - my horse developed bald patches on her sides a few months ago. She can be quite lazy and I got into a bad habit of using my legs too much. I was horrified to see what I'd done to my lovely wee horsey :o - and since then I've been trying very hard not to 'nag' with my legs so much. I'm pleased to say that it seems to be working - the hair is starting to grow back. Its interesting what you say about wearing chaps -I started wearing short boots and chaps about 4 months ago - before then I had always worn long rubber boots. Maybe that does rub the hair more?

oh my god   its all my fault!!! so now i need to lay off with my legs o.k. that bit i get & I have been trying to, but, how do you get them to keep trotting if you don't squeeze each time you sit? Also my boy has a real bad habit of cocking his head to the right therefore pulling on the left rein, so I have to use a lot of left leg to try & get him into a contact on the right rein, his back teeth etc, are all o.k. I 've had them checked this is just his clever way of evading me! he's got a lovely new bit too, very expensive but very good for brakes, its a Myler short shank combi!

please someone help me, what have i done to my poor boy - am I a complete nag monster :(
