hi, my friend is looking to buy a fjord but she can't find any anywhere, she's looked on places like horsemart ect, but none of the ones on there (and there aren't many) seem right or they look like crosses or not good examples of the breed ect. She is willing to travel far for one she likes the look of, but she wants one that is already broken (even if only lightly) so does anyone know of any good dealers with Fjords or breaders (if they have some already started ones) or just anywhere she could get one? she was even comtemplating having one importated(sp) but A) doesn't know where to start looking and B) doesn't realy want to buy unseen ect.

thanks in advance

Sometimes it is easier to import them, than find what you are after here.

Libbyo on here has a nice Fjord for sale. Why not pm her? He is on Horsequest I think.
I love Fjords too and never see any local to me.

Questy will be 5 year old in April - A Registered Norwegian Fjord gelding - He is golden dun in colour

I've owned him for 2 years - In this time he has been professionally broken to ride, and in October broken to drive by Pippa Bassett. He stands about 14.2hh to date. He is a very good shape for the breed, not overweight at all. He is a good weight carrier

He is now for sale to a home with the ability and facilities to bring him on and enjoy him - There is not a bad bone in him, he is not known to be spooky just green

He has tried jumping small cross poles which he was very good at - He is ridden in a snaffle

He has started hacking out in company and has already been asked to give a lead to other horses past monsters such as tractors - He has also been driven on the road & he enjoys long reining

He can live in or out to suit you - He was clipped in October for the first time ever, good as gold, just stood quietly - He is good in the field and will share hay bales with others - Good for the farrier, he’s only ever been shod at the front

Travels perfectly alone and in company, and has been in both a small lorry and a trailer - Inoculations are up to date as are his teeth checks, worming, etc

Questy is registered with the Fjord Society of Great Britain and holds a full passport with his breeding on it, see link on right - http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/questy

Selling Questy is a decision not made lightly, but this special boy deserves the best, and I cannot offer him a good enough quality of life - He will be sold with his riding bridle, a turnout and stable rug

I have now broken my right wrist, falling at home (totally non horse related accident!) so he is turned away in the field - He would much rather be in work

I am happy for a prospective buyer to have Questy vetted - I look forward to hearing from you

£3,000 - More pictures available

thanks for all you replies, I'll show her the ad and see what she thinks.

Wally, out of intrest where abouts you look to find one to import though? as I'm persuming most private wouldn't want to imprt there horses as they'd want to see where they're going and meet the buyers?

A great deal of Norwegian horses are exported by provate breeders.

If you google Norwegian or Danish Fjord horse societies they are very helpful putting folk in touch with sellers.

Well, if she would consider importing then I can probably put her in touch with someone in Sweden. PM me if interested.
