I have adopted a horse from a local charity who has a French passport. One of her parents is listed with TR by their name. The others are COMT for Comtois. Does anyone know what breed TR is?

Thanks for that.

Unfortunately she's not typically Comtois, she's a bit nervy. Her companion is a full Comtois and is like a teddy bear. I think she's had a bit of a rough time and needs to trust humans again.

I don't know anything about Trait Nord (please excuse my ignorance) what are they like?

The passport has the sire listed as Trait Comtois SCOMT and the dam as Trait FCOMT.

The dam's sire is listed as COMT and the dam's dam is listed as TR.

Trait means a draught horse -

The comptois are lovely blonde, chestnut creatures - like a cross between a Haflinger (only bigger) and a Suffolk Punch (only hairier).

Can't find out much about trait du nord - they seem to be one of those very heavy breeds, like the Flemish ones, and they come in lots of different colours.

I'm guessing that tr stands for trotteur (trotter).
