since i was about 2, my parents have had a timeshare in a lovely country estate in fife, kilconquhar castle. i was first sat on a pony there when i was teeny tiny and have had some of the best riding of my life there.
we go there for 2 weeks a year, in jan and june, and for teh past 5 years i have been lucky enough to ride the most amazing clydesdale x, named rosie. she truly was a magnificent horse and i had some amazing hacks through kilconquahr on her, and a few summers back my OH decided it was time he took up riding and he had his forst wobbly treks on rosie too.
when we booked our wedding in kilconquahar, we decided the cost of hiring a car would be ridiculous for the sake of a couple of hundred yards from my parents villa to the castle, and so i was to ride on rosie.
now, with just a few weeks til the wedding, the YM from kilconquhar phoned stu this afternoon with the devastiting news that rosie has been pts. she had been diagnosed with arthritis and apparently was coming in from the field when her back end just went from under her, and resulted in her loss.
i'm devastated, for everyone concerned. rosie was one of those one in a million mares with the sweetest nature, kindest face and giving heart, a joy to ride and gave my whole family years worth of memories. i know she was a yard favourite with regulars and holidaymakers alike and rosie roo, you will be greatly missed, i hope you meet up with big dex up there in 'horsey heaven'
