Sorry, many probably already know about this but am just so thrilled with it! Today I got perfectly fitting leather boots, not a thing wrong with them and a rather expensive riding hat, all for free!! It's a yahoo group, and there'll probably be one in your area! If you're looking for something in particular and you can't find it in a search then send out an advert, that's how i found my stuff. And all for free :)
Very chuffed, hope others can use this resource well!

Yep, I've seen a bunch of cages and stuff advertised
You should give the one for your area a check, and if they don't have what you need then send out a message. You'll probably be plesantly surprised :)

I got a lovely 3 piece suite there, still had the plastic on! I got loads of kitchen stuff, a beautiful kingsize pine bed frame, I swapped my electric cooker on there for a different one, got my tumble dryer and a 38 inch flat screen tv with the stand!
I have also given away loads of stuff, it is fab!

We are registered for freecycle and have given many things away, I've never thought of looking for horsey related stuff though :o

Until I read your post I'd never heard of it. I found a group in my town too.
Every week or two I take rubbish to the council 'recycling depot' and it is sad to see some of the stuff that gets thrown in the crusher. The only people who are allowed to touch any of the stuff are the staff that work there and I have watched them filling their cars solid with bits and peices. Many of the computers that are taken there are perfectly ok and would do someone a turn but they are all smashed.
Thanks for your info.

its like if you have unwanted stuff and its too much hassle/too much postage or not good enough for ebay you put an ad up and someone comes to collect it(if they want it lol) i have given away tons on there and got a garden shed a water but etc x

I use freecycle but have never found anything horsey on there.
I have mainly given things away on there, mostly that are too big or bulky to post for ebay or if I haven't got time to list them and just having a mad clear out!

Well I tried it and, in my neck of the woods at least, it is a total waste of time. Plenty of rusty kids bikes, carpets suitable for the shed on the allotment, and various flat pack bedside tables that have been restored to their original condition (minus all the screws and brackets).
Mind you, you would be lucky to find even that rubbish after wading through the wish lists of a handful of people who have logged in under mutiple names (If you read the texts carefully you can spot who these names are)
I would seriously advise people against using this 'service' if they have anything they want rid of but might do someone a turn. You do not know who is going to turn up to collect the stuff and you would be allowing a total stranger into your home. To sign up you do not even have to identify yourself properly and that is open to further abuse.
Given that the horse world is predomanently women and young girls I would seriously advise that people here should avoid this service for their own safety.
And the green issue? freecycle will not make a ha'peth of difference to the accelerating destruction man is inflicting on this world. Making toothbrushes and lighters with negative bouyancy will do more for the future of the planet than daft schemes like this ever will.
