hello!

Before you think i am off on a doom and gloom thread, no, i am talking about the kind of coffin you meet on a hunter trial - you know, the fence, couple of stride, ditch, couple of stride fence type!

I was just wondering what would happen if you were to have a stop at say the ditch or second fence, do you have to do the whole thing again, or can you just retry the bit you had a refusal at? i know with a SJ combination you have to do the whole thing again and i can't remember what you do cross country!

bye!

If it's marked as one fence with ab&c you have to do the whole thing - unless they have changed the rules since I was involved in such things.

If you have a problem in a combination then you have to get the whole thing right to get it right--even though you could end up having disobediences at every part of the combination. So, say you have a refusal at B, then you get A & B and have a refusal at C, then you get A,B, and C--you get 2 disobediences for 2 different fences, but you only get "credit" for having completed one once you're done with it. Unfair, huh? ;)

Of course, that's the rules I know, from the AHSA...err, I mean USA Equestrian. It may be different for you.

it slightly different where I compete.

where our coffin is it is surrounded by trees as it is sort of palced in the middle of a hedgerow. that means that the only way to repeat the combination would be to jump backwards over the ditch.

the water is the same. If you jump into the water at A and refuse part B (jumping out of the water) you just turn in the water and jump out.

Obviously there are some jumps that must be repeated in a combination, ie if there isn't enough run up to jump the jump safely.

If you're not sure check with the organiser. Its there rules so they'll put you right.
