Hi all wanted to get some feedback regarding waterproof jackets and trousers. Most of the time I use Berghaus or something similar but they are useually to nice to take the knocks and strains around the yard.

This winter I am thinking of investing in some quality heavier type waterproofs, I.e. Barbour or Kakadu..

The problem is I have never used the brand Kakadu before...so does anyone have any experience regarding these products or perhaps know anyone who does.

The descriptions read very well and are one of the most popular amongst stockmen and drovers....so they say.. Any opinions or help would be appreciated.

Cheers Chris

No experience with Kakadu, but I have an Outback oilskin and I love it. I've been in downpours and stayed dry, and no smell! http://www.happyathillhorsery.com/outback_trading_company.htm

Did you not find that once you try doing anything around horses it starts to smell of them? I can see how it might work purely for riding but the minute I tried anything else my barbour just got smelly and I hated it.

Thanks ladies, never really considered the smell point of view but now I am paranoid lol..

I guess the telling time will be whether anyone sits next to me in the tack room:eek:

The major thought for me is staying dry when out riding and at events etc....so if not a quality oilskin garment, what else can be recommended as I have noticed that riding wear for men is not so common and I do not fancy wearing the new Katie Price range...well not in public anyway.;)
