Mare in heat

Ah! I'm about to rip my hair out! Well...almost. How can I deal with my pony when shes in heat when I ride? I cant ever get her to pay any attention to me. All she cares about is the cute boys in the feild next the ring :) Thanks!

you poor thing.... at my ranch the mare in heat, Pearl would bite anybody and she was so loud neighing to the stallions in the next barn... while tacking up your horse u'd go insane:S

How about not riding her for the few days she's in season. Its not productive to school a mare that has other things on her mind. I just hack my mare on days like that.

Have just been reading a report from the AAEP (American vets conference) in which there have been many successful trials using marbles to fool mares into thinking they are pregnant (and therefore they don't come into heat). Apparently this is a well known practice in Europe, so if she's really bad perhaps ask your vet about it.
