Me and Jazz did our first bit of Liberty today (Parelli - working on the ground with no halter or rope) and it was AMAZING!!! Words cannot describe the feeling of partnership with your horse - the fact that he could shove off and ignore you but chooses not to. Incredible.
We did the Catching game first, which he did perfectly and was following me around like a dog! :D Then we moved onto circling game, which he soon realised he had done before but with a rope. It was so funny to watch, his expression changed when he realised, and despite the fact we were in a 20mx40m fenced area istead of a round pen he was doing perfect circles around me!
I can go to bed a happy girl tonight...

That sounds seriously amazing!!!
I would also like to hear more about Parelli, having heard good and bad things about it.
What kind of horse is Jazz?

Jazz is a 14.1hh l-m/w showpony with a very naughty sense of humour! He's gorgeous though - I love him to bits.
Parelli is a way of training that uses natural methods. There is a website - www.parelli.biz - and all sorts of videos, books, tapes, the Savvy System, equipment an details on courses and instructors. You can buy these on the website.
The book - think it's called 'Parelli Natural Horse-man-ship' is good, easy to understand. Though I have to say that despite he Savvy Systems being expensive, I think that they are worth it. For level one, it costs about £95, but you get a video showing what to do, a tape and a book that explain the principles and little pocket guides that explain what to do in more detail that you take with you when you do your horse. It makes it a lot easier!
Personally, I think that Parelli is excellent - the partnership you and your horse can create is amazing. It's also a lot of fun!

I would sell it to you - if it was mine! It belongs to my brother (who may be leaving home soon. What am I going to do?!). But I forgot to say that for £10 a month (I think) you can join the Savvy Club and get the Savvy packs free as you work through them. Seeing as level 1 is supposed to take 3 weeks-3 months, it means you get two packs from one years membership (L1 costs £95?, L2 £110? L3 £135?) You also get discounts on equipment and stuff, plus a email magazine.

It is an incredible feeling! But I have not done the at liberty circle game outside the round pen (no arena). I haven't tried it in the open area that would be SWEET! We did walk back to the barn and he stayed right behind me (no lead) even when I sped up and he had to trot to keep up.

It wasn't actually out of choice that I used a rectangular pen, just because my brother had measured one out. It was the smallest place I could find - was too lazy to round off the corners! :D :o
