hey guys i have a few habbits from my horse that it bugs me when ever he does it.

arghhhhhh they are so annoying

but he is sooo cute

Problem 1 ) anyway, im teaching him how to leg yield and now everytime i jump on him weather i have my legs on or not he does leg yeilding and i just want him to walk normal and know he will not and he will only ever do it to the left side of him. grrrrrrrrr. i have tryed to leg yeild him the other way and even plae the whip on the side he moves on but it wont work.

Problem 2 ) everytime i stand him or trot or canter or even walk he rips hishead down with force and its like he is trying to through me off but he never does or move his body etc, but in the show ring he does it even worse and i cant fix it, he almost broke my pinks doing it.

Guys got any ideas im all out :(

In relation to problem 1)
I would suggest several things. One would be to make sure you are being quite clear in your aids, usually in lateral movement the outside or sideways driving leg comes back a bit from the normal forward driving position. You need to make some kind of disinction. My other suggestion would be that you may just need to ride forward more. Re-establish the forward movement and then only work on the lateral stuff a little at a time making sure again, when you do that there is a clear difference in the aids.

Problem 2)
I can't say with any certainty what the problem is here but from my experience horses that do this tend to have a problem with contact from the bit or they are weak in the neck and only feel comfortable holding it in an outstreched position. If it is just discomfort in the neck then you will have to gradually build up from a longer outline until things are comfortable. However it is more likely that it is a problem with the bit contact.
Some horses get upset if the weight on the reins is more than the forward energy you put in with your legs. They are uncomfortable with the weight on the reins so they try to get some space. I find usually that if you use more leg than rein, sometimes quite a bit more that horse with this problem usually settle down.
As I say though I don't know your exact situation so I may be on the wrong track...you may need to look at using a different bit?

Not sure what to suggest about problem one but for nmber two I would get his teeth checked then check that his bridle fits properly and that the bit fits ok he might be in some discomfort
