I just have to let people know that I am so happy after working with my horse Penny for a year now, and the ground work has paid off. Parelli is certainly the way to go, the last couple of weeks I have been working with her without a lead rope and last week it clicked.
She now is reponsive when I enter the field that she shares with 5 other horses and some sheep. Then to top it off I practise my parelli moves in the field with no lead rope or head collar. We walk, turn and trot now. Last night was brill, we were like a pair of dancers as she follwed my every move and from a trot I could get her to stop dead, as soon as I did and she made sure that she was never in front of me!

I can't explain the feeling you get, although I am certainly proud that I have achieved this bond between us two, especially when you are in HER field with HER freinds all munching away on the grass and she chooses YOU to be with and follow every command.

Sorry to harp on, just so proud! Get out there and practise your parelli, it is such a good technique to gecome closer to you horse!

Congratulations on your liberty Miss MoneyPenny. Are you 'formally' in the Parelli programme or just 'doing you own thing?'

I am 'doing my own thing' to be honest. I haven't heard of a programme, what is that then?

Check out http://www.parelli.com/home.asp and you will find out what the levels are and the tests you can take in the programme. You can take the tests by sending videos in of you doing the tasks and have them assessed by a qualified coach. Otherwise you have to attend courses or go with your horse to a qualified coach.

Good web site, I will have a good look at that and see what is available to do!

Are you in a programme or had any experience of them?

Sorry for the dumb question, but what exactly is parelli? What does it consist of and why is it used?

Luv Kez xx

Kezzabelle .....look at http://www.parelli.com/home.asp and you will get some idea what we are talking about.

Miss MoneyPenny....I hang around with people who are in the programme and have access to all the course materiel up to level 3. I have monitered courses at level 1 and 2. and I have attended two demos by Pat Parelli in person. Because I have recognised the positive benefits the system has, I have started to do this work with my own horses. I have also sent two of my horses to be started by Ingela Sainsbury who is a three star Instructor and colt starter. Because of this I have had the oppertunity to watch Ingela training both her own and my young horses which I have found very inspirational. Ingela suggests that with the work I have done on my own I should take level 1 and 2 straight away and shouldn't be far off level 3. Some of the work I have been doing with my stallion is towards level 4. Because you are not allowed to take stallions to Parelli clinics ( it could make the liberty work very interesting!!!) I have to work on my own at home or go for private tuition.
