Hunts in Devon (Exeter area) and other general hunting questions

Sorry mods, but I didn't really know where to put this as I want to be able to access in over a weeks time and it didn't really fit in anywhere else :o

Question numero 1:
Does anyone know any hunts in the Exeter area? Where they meet? Type of terrain (eg lots of jumps/hillwork etc)? How much the cap is? And any other details :)
Personal experiences would be very much appreciated!!

Question numero 2:
I don't own a jacket or white jods, but have a shirt and tie etc. I could get white jods and I think I may have some beige ones lying about somewhere, but what kind of jacket is needed?

Questions numero 3:
I want to be showing my pony as a M+M so don't want to pull his mane too short, and also I want to be able to grab onto something when out hunting so how necassary is plaiting?

Hiya,

I am planning on hunting with Silverton this season, I have always hunted with Mid Devon so am the same as you...a bit out of the scene regarding who's who! I am going to ask my friend as she hunts with silverton so will let you know. I know they mainly hunt Ide, Newton St Cyres, Thorverton and Silverton, mainly farm land, jumping is always optional, you would need to wear cream / white jods, black boots or chaps, white shirt, stock or tie and a black jacket or tweed up to you, and a black hat or skull with black silk. that's what I have always worn, plaiting is not essential most of the ponies are not plaited. beige or cream would be better than white anyway ;)
ratcatcher (tweed) for autumn hunting = blue (lady) or black (either) for proper hunting or you could still go in tweed :)
some hunts allow for smart dark waterproof jackets nowdays
best to check with the hunt secretary though

It seems that the Silverton hunt kennels are really really close to me!! Do you know where they meet usually? As I don't think I'll have any transport, so if they meet within hacking distance then that would be amazing :)
